You can kill cancer cells easy, and easily leave the living cells, the problem is your body produces the cancer cells, once u kill the tumor, you body produces them in other areas, or they come back. To cure cancer, you need to find out why your body begins producing them in the first place.

The interview doesn't really cover the whole idea, which is to engineer nano particles to only enter cancer cells. This means that no matter where in the body the cancer is, the particles will find it. So it might be possible to rid the body of cancer cells completely. If this turns out to actually work I doubt pharmaceutical companies can do much to stop it, cancer is too "big" for that.
