does the tungsten carbide get splotches at all??
I was reading on E-Bay about the Tungsten Carbide and it said that it had Cobalt in it and that the Cobalt reacts with the skin and then blotches within a very short time period. It got me worried, but then I thought: Then how could you wear it??
I'm so confused. Can someone please help??

Blotches... not with mine... and as my oldest boy used to say.. shines like a diamond in a goats arse... :) I have had no issues except for wanting to buy another one to have a different style.. the one I got was shiny on the sides but brushed in the middle (i was worried that it wouldnt retain its shine) well i was wrong and wish i had brought the totally polished (shiny) one.. Hope this helps.

If there's an accident with impact, you want the ring to crack from brittleness rather than smashing flat and crushing your finger from bent malleable metal.

I would expect that was an example of what could happen if you slip (badly) with a knife.
I'd be more worried about slipping with a chisel or something. Either way, this would obviously hold up.

well I work with tungsten carbide tooling bits every day. Tungsten isnt unbreakable. My job is to take a 24 oz. hammer and smash apart drill bits and and various tungsten carbide CNC bits as well as other various items. I break apart pieces the size of a 20 oz. bottle (solid) into pieces that are about a tenth the size of a grain of sand. I work for Buffalo Tungsten Inc. I know alot about the material and the various items tungsten and tungsten carbide are used for.

I own a tungsten ring similar to that one and he's pretty close to the facts. Yes you can break big ol' tungsten tools apart, that isn't the point. The hammer is made of steel, it is being swung the same. The tungsten ring faired better then the others, thats all.

Tungsten carbide, from what I understand, gets 'splotches' and the metal becomes stained when a cobalt binder is used. Now 'days, jewelers and such only use nickel binders, which prevents this from happening. If you can find it, don't buy cobalt bound tungsten carbide, only get nickel.

Emergency room equipment can cut Tungsten without cutting off your finger. And most retailers that offer tungsten carbide offer free trade ins for life so you can get the right size.
