As a physician in practice, all of a sudden you find yourself sitting in a low paying job working for the insurance company. An ever squeezing arm twisting and coercing with no light at the end of the tunnel. Each company has IT center and massive querry generating software and departments and multimillion dollar operation to squeeze more and more and more until you have the plastic and they have the mighty dollar.

Physicians deprofessionalized, overworked underfunded and demoralized. Have to have an inrurance clerk in each office to deal with insurance clerks on the other side. You have to be an insurance clerk too. It is all about insuirance and drug prices. Medical care takes a back seat.

US insurance is a legal scam! I've been paying $3K/year in premiums to a private company for coverage I can't use bcause of high premiums, but the day I get laid off, too sick to work or retire that insurer will dump my ass after years of filling their pockets w/ my $. I'd rather pay $3K/year in extra tax and be garanteed unconditional coverage for life. + if education was free here like in Europe, doctors would not be in debt before they start practice & would not have to charge high prices.

Health insurance sucks? Only for some. For example my mom who worked her whole life in the US and raised two kids; now she is 62 and has been turned down for her social security TWICE! Of course you can't get health insurance while social security is pending. Something not especially good for a 62 year old. But of course if you have never worked a day in the US and you move here; you can get off the boat and go straight to the Medical office and get coverage. COVERAGE MY PARENTS CAN'T GET.

One payer system is the only way to go.
Private health insurance is a private tyranny that only exists in United States. It's a rather barbaric system that tells you you're health is only worth what you can afford. People in United States should get behind, and support, HR 676. If you don't know what it is learn about it! GM & Ford are going bankrupt because of the rising cost of health care. If United States had single-payer system, the companies wouldn't have to worry about it.

I find that situation sick. I can't understand it. Here in Canada birth to death, coverage from a paper cut to heart surgery. Why can't the U.S. gov't say that "everyone" has basic coverage like it is guaranteed in our constitution? I just don't get it and glad my senior parents never have to fear that either. Nor me for my children. What is wrong with America providing basics free?
